Welcome to the virtual world of 7th Bramshill
Hook Scout Group is a member of the Scout Association and is governed by their rules and regulations.
Hook Scout Group is reliant on Adults and Young People working together, learning, sharing and having fun.
We are a charitable organisation and responsible for our own fundraising and all adults give their time freely and receive no kind of payment We need the help of adults as Leaders, fund raisers, decorators, solicitors, accountants and many more professions.
We are sure that any skill that someone has is useful to us - it might only be an hour a week, month or even a year.
Where necessary, all training, uniform and out-of-pocket expenses are provided. All adults are subjected to CRB checks prior to them having any contact with any youth members of the Scout Group.
This is the chance to help the young; have a good time; and an annual 100% pay rise!
Hook Scout Group was formed in around 1910 and was then known as Newnham and Hook Scout Group and is one of the oldest Groups in the county of Hampshire. Records are a bit sketchy as to exactly when the Group was first registered as all Groups where registered at District level and no early records can be found locally.
The current Group has had continuity since 1959 when our Life President W. Lloyd Hill became the Cub Master, Lloyd was in charge of the Group until 1996 when he retired and the Current Group Scout Leader took over. Lloyd saw many different venues being used as meeting places and many of them where burnt to the ground in the 1960’s and for a while the Group meet in Newnham village hall, until a space was available in the Elizabeth Hall, 21 years ago Hook Scout Group built it’s own HQ in the grounds of the Elizabeth Hall.
Hook Scout Group has been able to offer all section’s of the Scout Association movement and currently has a Beaver Scout Colony, Cub Scout Pack and a Scout Troop. A District Explorer Unit currently meet at the Hook HQ. There are plans in place to have a Group Scout Fellowship, to assist the leaders with many different type of activities, by adults who cannot give a regular commitment to the Group but can be part of this exciting movement email Akela@7thbramshill.escouts.net if you would like more information.
We have a waiting list for all those who wish to join the Beaver Colony when they become 6 years old please see the waiting list section for full details of when and how to apply. If you would like to join the Cub or Scout sections please use the same area and forms and currently we do not have waiting lists for these sections and you should be able to join straight away after completing all the paperwork.
